Panier of Plenty

January 2017

Bonne Année! Welcome to the visual diary for January, highlighting daily life in the heart of Céret, in the Pyrénées-Orientales…

Sunday 8th January

It was one of those evenings that stopped everyone in their tracks… the sky burst into fire and blazed over the mountain sacred to Catalan people, Canigou.

Wednesday 18th January…

After a week of relentless high winds, horizontal rain and even a few snowflakes, calm is restored. Puddles lie frozen and the terrace garden has not fared well after the coldest morning this winter. Hoods or hats obscure faces, thick scarves and gloves are essentials. We have bought a sled! Canigou bears his new cloak after recent snowfalls. The school holidays will soon be here and I am busy preparing our mountain clothing…
