Panier of Plenty

September 2016

Welcome to the visual diary for September, highlighting daily life in and around Céret, in the Pyrénées-Orientales

As September commences, Célestine starts school; the newborn bébé is suddenly three years old! Days are hot and the Mediterranean waters warm, many visitors have departed and daily life is still festive — the event calendar filled with invitations. One of the advantages of our climate is the sense of freedom from wearing light layers — as yet, a gilet or jacket is unnecessary for evenings, as we live outdoors. Yet each day, the sun sets a little earlier and the first leaves fall, summer produce ripens and we move towards an autumn menu. It is a lovely time of year…

Thursday 15th September. As the heatwave has continued we have enjoyed balmy evenings and frequented swimming pools, the lake and beach… so it is with a jolt we now have to adjust to a new ‘normal’… waking to 13 degrees and climbing to 25… jeans and jackets are suddenly out.
