Welcome to the visual diary for January..
Bonne Année ! The year begins in celebration as thousands flock to the coastal town of Collioure to enjoy fireworks and a 60’s themed evening in the streets: ‘We All Live In A Yellow Submarine’ was the first song played to mark the debut of 2016.
From The Forest
4th January. I have a new walking circuit, following the canal and winding past potagers before re-emerging in the centre of town.
On The Menu
A Sunday roast, but not quite the same as in English tradition. Veal is popular here and is very lean, so the potatoes were cooked in olive oil.
January 6th. The first raclette (as snow falls at altitude and it feels like winter) and warm pain d’épices (made with milk and honey, freshly ground cinnamon and cloves, ginger and quarter épices).
Panettone for breakfast…
6th January. Imagine a gum tree in the view and it could be Australia…
