Panier of Plenty

Paved with gold

Hike from the centre of Céret to Fontfrède, 1021m (approximately 4.5 hours)

Wading through a deepening carpet of leaves, the overwhelming sensation is ‘gold’. Giant chestnut leaves tumble before my eyes as the wind picks up intensity and gusts, sending them swirling around me. Treetops sway, dancing, as the sun’s golden rays shine through the intense yellow canopy. The hills beyond are lit golden, their forested slopes visible from this grove. Caught up in the magic of the moment, buffeted by natural forces, I am completely immersed in beauty.
