Panier of Plenty

La Coma del Tech

Up, up, up… through beech forest… up steep grassy slopes dotted with vivid wildflowers, along a stony exposed ridge… up on a tiny path traversing a pine forest, perched above a granite strewn gully… looking ever upwards to craggy peaks, resembling the spine of a prehistoric giant.

Following the river Tech up river towards its source, we ended up in an immense valley, at 1980m altitude. Classed as a ‘protohistorique’ site, the alluvial cone and peat-bog (La Coma del Tech) is referenced in geographic studies — the ravine is a result of at least three thousand years of erosion.
